UNDER INVESTIGATION:

  • Bair Hugger Surgical Warming Blankets – We are investigating a potential action with respect to increased risk of joint infections linked to use of these devices often used during hip and knee replacement surgery.

  • Morcellators – Use of laparoscopic electric morcellators during hysterectomy and myomectomy may result in the spread and upstaging of occult uterine cancer.  If you underwent a hysterectomy or myomectomy and were later diagnosed with uterine cancer, please contact us for further details.

  • Sorin 3T Heater-Cooler System & Heater-Cooler Devices – Use of heater-cooler devices during open chest surgery, have been linked to several outbreaks of dangerous infections (Mycobacterium Chimera and Mycobacterium Abscessus). If you underwent open chest surgery and were later diagnosed with any form of mycobacteria infection, please contact us for further details.

  • Welspun Egyptian Cotton – We are investigating a potential action with respect to Welspun and its “Egyptian Cotton” products. It is alleged that Welspun uses inferior and less expensive cottons in many of its “Egyptian” cotton linens, resulting in consumers overpaying for an inferior product, with the belief that they were purchasing products considered to be “100% Egyptian Cotton”. If you purchased an item claiming to be 100% Egyptian Cotton between August 2014 and July 2016, from any of the following brands, please contact us for further details.

  • Zofran (ondansetron) – Canadian women with severe morning sickness are being prescribed Zofran (generic name ondansetron), a powerful anti-nausea drug suspected of causing deformities in some babies.  Ondansetron is approved by Health Canada to treat nausea and vomiting in chemotherapy and surgery patients.  It is not approved to treat pregnant women, but some doctors prescribe it “off label”.
