Biography

As a licensed and registered social worker, I’ve honed important qualities of rapport building and active listening, skills I now apply to my legal practice in order that my clients’ needs are realized and met to their satisfaction.

Working alongside an experienced corporate and commercial law team, Nusaiba Al-Azem assists clients in all aspects of business relationships, transactions, general corporate and real estate matters. With a background in social work, Nusaiba listens carefully to her clients to determine their corporate needs and uses her negotiation and people skills in order to meet those needs.

After obtaining her bachelor’s degree in social work, Nusaiba attended Western Law, where she was the recipient of the Margaret H. McNulty Prize awarded to a student who shows great promise. She graduated with distinction and was honoured to receive the Law Society of Upper Canada Prize for academic achievement. As an avid negotiator, Nusaiba was a two-time finalist and later a judge in the Tory’s LLP Negotiation Competition during law school.

Following her call to the bar, Nusaiba joined McKenzie Lake’s corporate and real estate team, where she has helped clients develop shareholder agreements, start businesses and not-for-profits, and buy and sell property. Nusaiba also has experience working with professionals and has assisted doctors, dentists, physiotherapists, and the like in navigating the corporate side of their practices.

Outside of the office, Nusaiba enjoys baking, reading, and hiking with friends and family. Nusaiba serves as a director on Museum London’s Operating Board and enjoys giving back to her community.
