Biography

I find few things more rewarding than resolving my clients’ complex tax issues through the use of my keen analytical skills and problem-solving abilities.”

Keenan is an Associate in McKenzie Lake’s Tax Practice group, where he assists clients with all types of federal and provincial tax disputes, and consults on tax planning and other tax matters. His practice involves regularly appearing before the Tax Court, the Federal Courts, and the Provincial Courts.

Born in London and raised in Chatham-Kent, Keenan graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from the University of Western Ontario, where he earned the Albert E. Wells scholarship for having the highest overall average in his second year of study, before pursuing his JD at Osgoode Hall Law School. During his time at Osgoode, Keenan specialized in Tax Law and received the Thorsteinssons Prize for the highest mark in Corporate Taxation. Throughout law school and into his career, Keenan has drawn on the strong analytical skills he gained through his scientific background to solve difficult problems.

Keenan believes in serving his community. As a volunteer, he has tutored underprivileged children in the GTA, helped business owners secure patents and trademarks through Osgoode Hall’s Intellectual Property Clinic, and worked as an activities coordinator at a long-term care community in Chatham-Kent.

When he is not actively memorizing the Income Tax Act, Keenan is a hiker, an animal lover, an armchair historian, an ambitious traveller, and an aspiring furniture refurbisher.
