Four Partners Join McKenzie Lake in Guelph from National Firm

McKenzie Lake is thrilled to announce that we are expanding our business, real estate, and litigation practice in Guelph with the addition of four talented partners and their team of dedicated staff. The group joins us from a national firm and brings with them a depth of practice area experience unparalleled in Guelph.

Michael Peerless, McKenzie Lake Managing Partner, said, “McKenzie Lake continues our measured growth strategy by bringing aboard the absolute best legal practitioners in the country.  We could not be happier that Kyle, Mike, Tom, and Mike are joining us.”

While discussing why the team choose to join McKenzie Lake, Mike Henley said, “We are really happy to be joining such a top calibre firm. Being able to stay in the Guelph market and continuing to serve our existing clientele was paramount”.

The lawyer team includes Kyle Hampson, Mike Henley, Tom Manes, and Mike McCluskey. An overview of their biographies is contained below.

The group will join our team of lawyers and staff who currently support our clients in the areas of Wills, Estates & Trust Law, and Person Injury & Disability Law in our Guelph office.

Kyle Hampson is a partner and experienced lawyer with a substantive and ever-growing real estate and business law clientele. Beyond law, he is strong in business development, having forged many relationships with complimentary professional services and other key stakeholders both in the Guelph market and across Canada. Kyle is currently serving as Director and Past-Chair of the Guelph Chamber of Commerce and as Director and Treasurer of the Guelph and District Home Builders Association. He is also active in his home of Waterdown/Flamborough as a Director and Past-Chair of the Waterdown District Children’s Centre and within the Flamborough Girls’ Hockey Association.

Mike Henley is a partner and experienced business and real estate lawyer who regularly advises on private mergers and acquisitions, corporate restructuring, succession planning, and bank financing work. He also advises on commercial real estate transactions. Mike is an active member of the community, having served on various boards, including serving as chair of the Guelph Chamber of Commerce, and a board member of The Foundation of Guelph General Hospital.  Mike also coached hockey at various levels with both the Guelph Girls Hockey Association and Guelph Minor Hockey Association for several years.

Tom Manes is a partner who represents mid-to large-size corporations and organizations in his accomplished corporate commercial practice. He provides help with a wide range of business matters, including leasing, mergers and acquisitions, and drafting and negotiating a variety of business agreements. He also has expertise in secured transactions, acting both for the lender and the borrower. Tom is the Past Chief Executive Officer of the Board of Directors of the Guelph Chamber of Commerce.

Mike McCluskey is a partner who helps his clients resolve all types of litigation disputes from the early stages of an issue all the way through to trial. Mike understands that litigation can be an intimidating process for many clients. Because of this, he works closely with his clients at every step of the process believing that open communication is a key ingredient for success. Mike has specific experience with contract disputes, commercial and residential real estate disputes, construction disputes and liens. While he is proudly from Rothesay, New Brunswick, having practiced in Guelph now for five years, he is an active member and volunteer within the community.  Mike is a member of the Board of Directors for Habitat for Humanity in Wellington/Dufferin/Guelph.
