Biography

During his legal training, Jim spent a number of years working with McKenzie Lake, both as an articling student and as part of our 2009 summer program. Called to the bar in 2011, Jim has found a permanent home with us. Jim is a member of the Law Society of Upper Canada, the Canadian Bar Association, the Ontario Bar Association, and the Middlesex Law Association.

Currently practicing in general and estate litigation, as well as estate and trust planning and administration, Jim comes to McKenzie Lake with a diverse educational background. He received his Juris Doctor from the University of Western Ontario in 2010, but prior to that he earned a Bachelor of Medical Science Honours Physiology (2005) and Master of Science in neurophysiology (2007) from the same institution.

His work during his neurophysiology and physiology education was extremely well regarded. Jim authored and co-authored a number of articles, which appeared in peer-review scientific journals relating to his undergraduate and graduate research. In fact, he received the Bill Bottom award, handed out to the person with the top MSc thesis.

Jim’s career in hockey saw him progress to the Junior B level, where he suited up for the Leamington Flyers, the London Nationals, and the St. Thomas Stars. He continues to stay active in the sport, playing in a local men’s league and also passing on his knowledge to the next generation of hockey stars, having coached in the Oakridge Minor Hockey system.

He also enjoys playing the guitar, attending concerts, and considers himself a horror movie aficionado.
