London’s Sportsperson of the Year

We’re proud to announce that our very own Richard McLaren has been recognized as London’s 2016 Sportsperson of the Year. Richard’s investigative research exposed the amount of systematic, state-sponsored drug cheating by Russia during and after the 2014 Sochi Olymic Winter Games.

Before landing his career in law, Richard invested a large portion of his energy in athletics as the captain of both the basketball and football teams at Trinity College School in Port Hope. With a love for sports, Richard merged his passions for law and sports, propelling toward a career in arbitration with special attention on sport. This path led to his first major investigation during the 2000 Sydney Olympics on U.S related doping issues.

Since the Sydney Olympics investgation, Richard has played an instrumental role in many other investigations, with his most recent and monumental contribution toward publicizing the extend of drug cheating by Russia throughout the 2014 Olympic Winter Games.

After being recognized by Excellence Canada earlier this year, the significance of his 97-page investigative report has earned Richard McLaren with the title of London’s Sportsperson of the Year and may go forward as a benchmark in sports history.

We are very proud to have such a passionate and dedicated individual as part of our team. From the entire McKenzie Lake team, we congratulate you again on a wonderful honour.
