From Students to Associates at McKenzie Lake

Three former summer and articling students begin the next chapter of their careers with the firm

McKenzie Lake Lawyers is pleased to welcome Aitana Robinson, Ellen Nagy and Caitlin Clouthier as associates, effective September 9, 2026.

Each began their journey with the firm as a summer student before returning as an articling student. Their transition to associate reflects both their dedication to the profession and McKenzie Lake’s longstanding commitment to investing in and developing the next generation of legal talent.

Having already worked alongside clients and lawyers across the firm during their student terms, Aitana, Ellen and Caitlin bring a strong foundation of practical experience, collaborative relationships and a deep understanding of McKenzie Lake Lawyers client-focused approach to legal service.

SUPPORTING CLIENTS ACROSS KEY PRACTICE AREAS

Aitana Robinson

Aitana Robinson joins McKenzie Lake’s Wills, Estates & Trusts Group, where she assists clients with estate planning, estate administration and related matters.

Having grown up in the London community, Aitana earned her law degree from Western University after completing her undergraduate studies at King’s University College. During law school, she gained valuable practical experience through her work with the Community Legal Services clinic while developing a passion for helping individuals and families navigate important legal decisions.

After joining McKenzie Lake as a summer student and returning to complete her articles, Aitana now begins her practice as an associate, bringing a compassionate, practical approach and a strong commitment to client service.

Ellen Nagy

Ellen Nagy joins McKenzie Lake’s Tax Law Group, where she supports clients with a broad range of tax matters.

Raised in Tillsonburg, Ontario, Ellen earned her Juris Doctor from Western University after completing undergraduate and graduate studies in English and History. Throughout law school, she demonstrated a strong commitment to leadership and mentorship, serving as a mentor for first-year students and co-chair of both the Gender and the Law Association and the Western Tax Law Association. She was also recognized with the Diana Majury-Cheryl Waldrum Award for her meaningful contributions to the study of gender and discrimination in the law.

After summering and completing her articles with McKenzie Lake, Ellen now begins her practice as an associate, bringing thoughtful analysis, a collaborative approach and a strong commitment to client service.

Outside the office, she volunteers as a mentor with Big Brothers Big Sisters of London and Area.

Caitlin Clouthier

Caitlin Clouthier joins the firm’s Commercial Litigation Group, practising from both the London and Guelph offices. Her practice includes a broad range of commercial disputes, including contract and property disputes, fraud, mortgage enforcement and construction litigation.

A graduate of Western University Faculty of Law, Caitlin developed a passion for litigation and advocacy through competitive mooting, building on a strong academic foundation that began at the University of Guelph.

Having first joined McKenzie Lake as a summer student before returning to complete her articles, Caitlin brings practical experience, thoughtful advocacy and a client-centred approach to her work.

As a first-generation university and law student, she is passionate about making the legal process approachable and accessible, providing clients with practical advice and clear guidance throughout every stage of their matter.

INVESTING IN THE FUTURE OF THE PROFESSION

” We are proud to support talented young lawyers as they build meaningful careers, strengthen our firm and continue our longstanding commitment to serving our clients and our community.” says Matthew Villeneuve, Managing Partner.

McKenzie Lake has a long tradition of recruiting, mentoring and retaining exceptional legal talent. By investing in students and providing opportunities to develop practical experience alongside experienced lawyers, the firm continues to build for the future while delivering the high-quality legal services clients have come to expect.

Please join us in congratulating Aitana Robinson, Ellen Nagy and Caitlin Clouthier as they begin this exciting new chapter with McKenzie Lake Lawyers.
