My experience in the sale of goods and consumer sales industry has given me firsthand knowledge of the hard work and dedication it takes to successfully operate a business, and our clients deserve no less from me. Working with clients to develop novel and efficient legal strategies to advance their respective position in legal disputes and to otherwise enforce their rights, is a job that I not only enjoy, but take very seriously.
My hands-on experience in the business world has taught me practical lessons about running a successful enterprise. That experience helps tailor the specific legal services provided to our clients.
As a litigator, I focus on four main industry sectors: insurance, construction, franchising and agriculture. Within these sectors, I handle a wide range of commercial disputes, including contract, franchising, leasing, creditor/debtor, employment, labour and human rights. Additionally, I have particular experience in fire subrogation and loss transfer claims, all areas of construction litigation, and crop loss claims and other agriculture-related concerns.
Appreciating the importance of the human element is a large component of my practice. Having worked steadily during my university and law school years, led to understanding the pressures inherent in running a business along with legal issues pertaining to sales of goods, consumer transactions, and franchise relationships.
Much of this experience was gained in the aquarium and aquaculture industry where I experienced firsthand the nuances of the franchisee-franchisor relationship and business, and also gained a wealth of knowledge of this unique sector.
My practice has resulted in appearances before a number of Tribunals, including the Human Rights Tribunal, Ontario Labour Relations Board, Licence Appeal Tribunal, and the Agriculture Food and Rural Affairs Appeal Tribunal. I have also appeared in various levels of Courts in Ontario, including the Superior Court of Justice and the Ontario Court of Appeal.
