McKenzie Lake Laywers - Michael Lake

Michael Lake

Whether negotiating on behalf of or together with my clients, or collaborating with the commercial litigation team, I enjoy the give and take involved in advancing my client’s interests.

In addition to having been Managing Partner from 2011-2014, I have a corporate commercial law practice with a particular focus on real estate development.

My clients include builders, manufacturers, professional services firms, a wide array of business interests as well as leading national, regional and local developers.

I provide legal representation in commercial transactions to financial intermediaries and institutions including Pacific and Western Bank, Bank of Montreal, Sun Life, Laurentian Bank, CIBC and IC Funding.

Working within a team of 4 lawyers, I also represent the interests of various parties (lenders, contractors and public institutions) within the infrastructure development process including lender facilities of approximately one billion dollars.

I relish the opportunity to work with clever, creative, individuals who are enthusiastic about their projects whatever they may be.

While I have in the past lectured at the Law Society Annual Institute and the Bar Admission course, these days my professional hours not spent in my practice are devoted to my role as managing partner of our firm. I am very proud of the many accomplished people within our firm and their recognition received individually and as a firm.

Outside of the office, my time is spent with friends and family whether travelling or at the cottage, playing rounds of poor golf, skiing, fitness and boating.
