Biography
“My time spent outdoors paddling the northern lakes and rivers of Ontario and Quebec has taught me to respect the nature of things. It’s rewarded me with a better understanding of how I can positively impact the people around me.”
Formerly a partner and head of the Family Law Department at McKenzie Lake Lawyers LLP, Scott Merrifield continues his practice of Family Law as counsel at McKenzie Lake and in that capacity, takes pride in being a problem solver. If Court proceedings are necessary, Scott has extensive experience in the judicial system.
In keeping with his solutions and problem-solving goals, Scott has completed the courses required by the Ontario Association for Family Mediation (OAFM). Scott believes in Alternative Dispute Resolution.
Like most Canadians, Scott loves hockey. If Scott is not at the office or in court, he is likely at a hockey rink. Scott has coached high-performance women’s hockey in the London area for years and, in 2009, was honoured with the Provincial Women’s Hockey League Coach of the Year Award.
When it’s time for Scott to recharge his battery, he heads to his cottage on the Bruce Peninsula to relax with his family and attempt the odd cottage repair. Life in the outdoors is important to Scott with or without the creature comforts of his cottage. With both friends and family, Scott has paddled many of the northern lakes and rivers of Ontario and Quebec.
