Biography

“It’s a fact of life that disputes will occur and that litigation will often follow. Clients are often best served by achieving a negotiated resolution to a dispute; however, in my experience, the best resolution comes where my client’s strategy and preparation for litigation is not treated as an afterthought.”

As a litigator with McKenzie Lake Lawyers LLP, David Foster helps clients to navigate disputes arising from a wide variety of matters. In serving his clients, David has appeared in front of courts and tribunals on civil, commercial, regulatory, labour and employment, and human rights matters.

As a member of the firm’s workplace and institutional investigations team, David leans on his experience in labour and employment, human rights, and occupational health and safety law to conduct workplace and institutional investigations in a manner that is quick, efficient and sensitive.

David prides himself on being a strategic thinker who brings a results-oriented focus to his clients needs. David previously served as a senior advisor to the federal Minister of Labour, where he worked to resolve high profile labour disputes with national implications. David relies on his practical knowledge of the statutory, regulatory and public policy-making process to help his clients navigate the complex and always changing legal landscape.

David is competitive in the boardroom, the court room and on the roads and trails. David is an avid runner who competes in road and trail races across all distances and surfaces, and has recently fallen in love with exploring the backroads of London and Middlesex County on his gravel bike.
