Julie Zamprogna Ballès was called to the Bar in 1995. She received her Bachelor of Laws from Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario. Her practice areas focus on Administrative law, with a concentration in Health Law.
She is a past chair member of the Ontario Consent & Capacity Board and has extensive experience writing about her expertise in Health Law. She is in the author of An Introduction to the Law Governing Physicians (3 editions) and is a contributing author to A Practical Guide to Mental Health, Capacity and Consent Law of Ontario (2nd edition). In the academic sphere, she has been a guest instructor at the University of Western Ontario Medical School and a lecturer at Fanshawe College, Business Health Studies. She regularly conducts education seminars at various health care facilities in London.
Julie's community involvement is varied, but tends to relate to health-focused organizations. She has been a trustee of the Middlesex Law Association, as well as an executive board member of Northridge Community Association. Julie is involved with the Health, Illness & Society Subject Development group at the University of Western Ontario, the Canadian Cancer Society as a regional trainer, the Canadian Diabetes Association and the Heart & Stroke Foundation. She also volunteers on the parent council of St. Catherine of Siena School.
When she is not working on health-related issues, Julie enjoys raising her three children, playing various sports, sewing and playing piano. She may also be the only lawyer at McKenzie Lake having the skill to design and create clothing.
