Biography

Called to the Bar in 2000, Carolyn received certification in the Fundamentals of Mediation through the ADR Institute of Ontario and completed advanced collaborative family law training. Carolyn’s focus continues to be in all aspects of family law and she has been engaged in a specialized practice in family law since 2000. She is a member of the Law Society of Upper Canada, the Collaborative Family Lawyers of London and Middlesex, and the Joint Community Liaison and Resource Committee for the Family Court in London. Carolyn is a also member of the Middlesex Law Association, the Ontario Bar Association, and the Canadian Bar Association.

Carolyn, who currently sits as the president of the Middlesex Family Law Association, earned an Honours Bachelor of Science in Genetics at The University of Western Ontario, and was named to the Dean's Honours List. Her scientific understanding of humanity is complemented by her continued interest in and study of psychology and human behaviour.  Carolyn has spent a lifetime learning about people -- inside and out -- and she has been able to use that insight to her advantage in family law cases, both in and out of the courtroom.

In addition to her background in science, she has also taken an active interest in the arts. She is an accomplished pianist who maintains an avid interest in independent music. The former varsity rower at university continues to lead an active lifestyle and in addition to regular trips to the gym, she enjoys cycling, hiking, tennis and squash.

It is clear that this commitment to leading a balanced lifestyle has contributed to her skill in and out of the courtroom. The combination of her knowledge and understanding of human behaviour and extensive courtroom experience has made her a skilled negotiator and advocate for all types of family law issues.

Testimonials

"I found Carolyn to be very competent in handling my family law matters. Her knowledge of the law and its application was exceptional. Her willingness to listen and collaborate with resources at McKenzie Lake was refreshing. Confronted with a belligerent ex, I found Carolyn sensitive, yet realistic, to the difficult issues. My stated objectives were achieved." -- Alex

"Going through a marital separation was certainly one of the most painful and confusing experiences of my life. My good fortune, though, was to have Carolyn Lloyd as my lawyer. Ms. Lloyd helped me make sense of the way the legal system dealt with this situation, clarifying my legal rights. Her knowledge, problem solving ability, and compassion supported me in keeping a sense of perspective throughout the process." -- Robert

"Carolyn Lloyd has given hope to me and my daughter through a devastating time of our lives.  She has always taken the time to listen to my needs, and advised me on all my legal rights, obligations, and best interests of me and my child.  She has always gone well beyond her obligations as a lawyer, and I could never imagine getting through such a difficult period without her.  She is there to fight for what is best for you.  Even when things might become overwhelming, Carolyn has kept me strong and focused on what needed to be done to protect me and my family.  Carolyn and her staff will always be a part of mine and my daughter's life.  We couldn't have been in better hands.  Thank you Carolyn." -- Lydia
