Biography
William has an extremely well respected reputation in the southwestern Ontario legal community, earned not only through his half-century of legal expertise. It is a reputation forged from his ongoing dedication to improving the community through his work with various charitable, research, and educational facilities.
After being called to the bar in 1964, William spent 24 years in legal practice before becoming a judge. He spent a quarter of a century in that role, and over the course of his tenure as a judge William served as the president of the Ontario Superior Court Judges' Association and as Local Administrative Judge of London.
A member of the Middlesex Law Association, William holds an L.L.B. from the University of Western Ontario, and has received an honourary L.L.D. from the same institution. He specializes in the fields of insurance and personal injury law, environmental class actions, and wrongful dismissal cases.
He is currently a director of the Kidney Foundation of Canada (Southwest Region), and has formerly served as chair of the U.W.O.'s board of governors, the London Regional Art Gallery, and Foundation Western. William has also been a member of the Fanshawe College board of governors, Matthews Group Limited, the Ontario Council of Regents of Applied Arts and Technology, the Robarts Research Institute, and the Victoria Hospital Corporation.
In William's free time he enjoys playing tennis, golf and squash with his wife Paula. He is also an avid skier, enjoys boating, and is a member of a local book club.
